For those holding off on playing Team Fortress 2 because you didn't want to pay for it.  Well....this news is for you:

Valve, creators of bestselling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), announced today that after four years and over 200 updates, its popular and critically-acclaimed online action game Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is now Free To Play (F2P).

The F2P announcement comes as part of the "Uber Update". Released today, it is the largest content pack delivered to TF2 since it shipped in 2007.

New players interested in experiencing what PC Gamer calls "the most fun you can have online" will have access to training and offline practice modes, so they can hone their skills before jumping into the ever-expanding TF2 universe.

To celebrate the launch of the Uber Update, Valve has released "Meet the Medic," the latest in its series of TF2 animated shorts.

TF2 is now Free to Play for PC & Mac players via Steam.

A brand new trailer for Stronghold 3 was just released today.  I can't wait for this game.  I love the music and if they get back to the gameplay of the first game...I think they'll have a winner.

The World of Warcraft patch 4.2 called Rage of the Firelands is coming out soon and Blizzard just released a brand new trailer for it.

Massively is reporting that the post-apocalyptic MMO, Fallen Earth, will be going free to play.  So how free will it actually be?

Free: This is to be considered an unlimited free trial, by which players will be allowed to play the game from end to end completely free if they'd like. They just won't earn any reward points.

Silver: This tier will cost less than the current sub price (which is currently $14.99 a month) and provide the same content. All subscriptions (Silver, Gold, and VIP) will also earn enhanced XP gain.

Gold: This will cost the same as the current sub fee but offer more reward points and bonuses each month, which can be spent in the item shop. So you'll be getting more for the same price.

VIP: With this top tier (which will most likely cost more than the current sub fee), players will have the ability to share their VIP bonuses with everyone in their party in the form of a VIP "aura." So if one person in your party is VIP but the rest are free players, everyone in the group will still reap the rewards of this aura. These rewards are also stackable, so if you have a full party of VIP members, you can expect some crazy boosts for everyone in the group.

Supposedly this will be happening in the next couple of months if all goes well.  I've heard that Fallen Earth is decent enough so it might be worth playing for free....at least until the Fallout MMO comes out...whenever that might be.

Dungeons and Dragons has interested me for many years. When I was in high school (this was when Prodigy was the gold standard in online services and 2400 bps modems were hot), I had friends-a-plenty who played the iconic dice game and, frankly, I had no idea how it worked.

Well I can be thankful soon enough that Atari is developing Dungeons and Dragons : Heroes of Neverwinter for the Facebook gaming platform. Now, D&D fans, the world over, will be able to create their custom characters and play D&D online against their Facebook friends and community members from around the globe.

D&D : Heroes of Neverwinter is based around the D&D 4th Edition rules, using the same character creation process. In gameplay, the players character's physical appearance and equipment is visible on the battlefield and as part of the character sheets to show off each players customizations.

In gameplay, players can meet up with friends in Fallcrest Town, buy equipment and chat with other visitors at the local tavern. It is here that players can join up on other players rosters. Players will be able to then use the Asynchronous multiplayer feature to take their Facebook friends on adventures to use their various skills, and in return, their Facebook friends earn experience and gain loot.

This exciting new D&D will allow both novice and advanced players to get a unique experience and enjoy this classic game. Expect D&D: Heroes of Neverwinter on Facebook this summer.
