Just got word that Hellgate will be making its triumphant return this summer for a beta test.  Here is the announcement:

T3 Entertainment, Redbana and HanbitSoft today announced the return of Hellgate to North America. The game will launch as a free-to-play MMO in closed beta from June 3rd to June 5th.  A full launch is expected later this year. Information on beta access will be announced soon at: http://hellgate.t3fun.com/

Players are invited to return to Hellgate this June to fight for the survival of the human race. Join a party online to fight against evil with a team or play solo if you’re brave enough.  Choose your character from six different unique class types and prepare for battle against creatures from hell. Arm yourself with a wide variety of weapons and armor and dismantle the ones you don’t need to obtain rare scrap metals. Enhance your weapons with upgrades and relics to have the best chance of survival.

When Hellgate returns, you better be ready.

Follow Hellgate on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.

Activision and Treyarch just just announced that Black Ops: Escalation DLC will be coming to the PC on June 2nd, 2011.  Here is the scoop:

Escalation features four new multiplayer maps and an unprecedented Zombie experience, featuring famed director George A. Romero, Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker and Danny Trejo, as well as an original music track from Avenged Sevenfold titled "Not Ready to Die."

The Escalation content pack's new multiplayer maps include:

  • "Hotel," where players battle it out on the roof of a Cuban luxury hotel and casino against the vivid backdrop of old Havana
  • "Convoy," which delivers intense, close-quarters combat at the scene of an ambushed U.S. military convoy
  • "Zoo," which sets gamers on an eerie ride through an abandoned Soviet Russian Zoo with danger at every turn
  • "Stockpile," which pits players in a remote Russian farm town, housing secret WMD facilities
  • "Call of the Dead," Escalation's Zombie experience assembles a zombie-carnage dream team to fight against a new zombie horde menace, all set in the dark, ice-covered isles of Siberia

PlayStation®3 info coming soon.

If you are looking for a new PC game to try out, you can do so today free by downloading the just released playable demo of Faery:Legends of Avalon from Spider Studios, which was just recently released on XBLA as well as on PSN and PC.

The trial version of this RPG game includes the island of Avalon to explore, and allows you to complete the first main quests in the game. Then if you decide you like what you see, go ahead and buy the full edition for $14.99, also downloadable.

The demo is available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. To get a copy, visit http://www.faery-thegame.com/.

On the tail of the earlier announcement that PSN is coming back up, the same holds true for Sony Online Entertainment's Station.com, their online service for PC gamers, which supports such titles as Free Realms, Everquest and Everquest 2, DC Universe Online, and so many more.

I just successfully logged into Everquest 2 for the first time in weeks! It appears that there are software updates for the various games you will have to contend with, and SOE is requiring all users to change their passwords at first login, but you can go play!

Make sure you go to Station.com where you can view details of the Welcome Back promotions!

Based on the critically acclaimed book series A Song of Ice and Fire, by screenwriter and novelist George RR Martin, A Game of Thrones - Genesis is billed to immerse "you into the heart of the battles and intrigues between the Houses that shaped the Kingdom of Westeros," according to the press release.

A Game of Thrones - Genesis follows a thousand years of history through this series, and follows the April 17th HBO series premier of Game of Thrones. With the debut of the video game this summer, Mr.Martin has the trifecta of media - books, TV and video games - to claim his name to. Their are board games and RPG games based on this series too. I'm very intrigued by the storyline, and the screenshots that Cyanide released today for the game along with launching the official website, help too.

Basically, the book series encompasses a fictional wold between two primary contintense, Westeros - in the west - and Essos, you guessed it - in the east. There are some humans, some people called the "Others" (name reminiscent of LOST, but definitely not the same people) from the North. So who's from the South? There is war between some families in Westeros, while the Others (from the North) are threatening to attack from the other side a very large wall of ice.

You can see the aforementioned screenshots below, check your HBO listings for showtimes, and check out the official website @ /www.agot-genesis.com/.
