Mobile News on World-Gaming Network

There was a lot of new features dished out of WWDC for the upcoming iOS 5. We have asked for many of these features. For instance....

No more popups! We welcome the all new Notification Center with open arms.

Safari has also been revamped and will be able to be synced to all iOS devices as well as OSX Lion. Safari will now have real tabs instead of the old thumbnail view.

Reminders app, finally a genuine to-do list app that will be synced between all iOS 5 devices and OSX desktop/laptop. Reminders is also location aware. For example you can create a to-do list that will pop up when you enter your local grocery store and will include your shopping list. Quite nice!

Camera App gets a much needed upgrade as well. No longer is the app just a viewfinder, it now will include basic photo editing including sharpening, shadows, highlights, color correction, etc. Now on the lock screen there will also be a camera button that will enable you to quickly get to the camera app without losing the moment. Apple has finally also allowed the ability to use one of the volume buttons to be used as the shutter button. No more fishing for the touch based version!

Twitter integration everywhere in iOS 5. Tweet till your hearts contend.

Newstand basically iBooks for newspapers and magazines.

New Mail app. You have to admit the mail app sucks, even after the upgraded in iOS 4. In iOS 5 rich text formatting, indentation control, draggable email addresses all make an appearance. We shall see how that works.

You no longer need to be tethered to a PC. With iOS 5, users can open the box and start using their device right away. You can sync music via iCloud and never need a desktop or laptop again for your iPhone/iTouch/iPad needed.  Very nice.

iMessage which will closely resemble BBM from the Blackberry world. iMessage will work on all iOS 5 devices and allows users to leave a conversation on one device and pick it up on another. Problem with this is it's Apple only.

Other big updates include personal dictionary, customizable vibration alert, iTunes Wi-Fi sync, advanced gestures, Emoji, LED Flash on incoming calls and alerts, hourly weather forecasts, etc.

Check out the replay of the WWDC keynote 2011 for even more updates on iOS 5, OS X Lion and iCloud.

For those looking to get your hands on a "PlayStation Phone", you'll love this news.  The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play AKA the PlayStation Phone, will be coming out May 26th (next week) in the US for $200 (with 2 year commitment) on the Verizon network.  The PlayStation Phone will come loaded with seven games like Madden NFL 11 (EA Sports), Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior (Digital Legends), Asphalt 6: Adrenaline (Gameloft), The Sims 3 (EA), Star Battalion (Gameloft), Crash Bandicoot (Sony PlayStation), and Tetris (EA).

Anyone planning to get it?

It's finally here!

The white iPhone 4 is finally here!!!

The black iPhone 4 has been out since June 24th of 2010 due to issues with production the white iPhone 4s didn't quite make it out in time for the June 24th launch. Originally Apple said that the white iPhones would be delayed by a few weeks, then weeks turned into months and here we are today stating that the white iPhone 4 will be available tomorrow at retailers.

Apple was only 43 weeks late to the show... Are you going to buy a white iPhone 4 or wait till the iPhone 5 is out?

Mobilized is reporting that Apple Inc is fully aware of the issues that some Verizon customers have been having connecting with their iPad 2s. In a statement to Mobilzed, Apple had this to say...

“We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it."

The Wi-Fi and AT&T models have not reported any of the same issues that the Verizon model has been inflicted with. Good news is that as per a leak a few days ago, Apple has already begun working on iOS 4.3.2 which may correct a lot of the issues iPhone and iPad users have been having with iOS 4.3.1.

Most systems only launch with a small handful of titles, for example the Nintendo 3DS only launched with only 16 titles. As you can see it's quite unusual to see a handheld come out with a launch list of over 60 games. The folks over at Sony Ericsson have announced that the Xperia Play, aka the PlayStation Phone, will indeed launch with 60+ titles. Some top titles to watch are:

  • Assassins Creed Altair’s Chronicles HD - One of the most popular gaming franchises, with action, puzzles and stealth gameplay set in the Middle East of the Crusades
  • Need for Speed - Grab the wheel of the fastest, hottest, and most powerful cars in the world. One of the most successful video game franchises of all times.
  • Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell – The latest instalment in this key franchise. Special Forces operative and renegade Sam Fisher returns to fight a corrupt secret agency.
  • Dungeon Defenders Second Wave – Stunning graphics, intense gameplay and exclusive on Xperia PLAY.
  • Worms – Send your worm platoons into battle in this award-winning turn-based strategy game.
  • N.O.V.A.2 - Awesome graphics and intense multiplayer gameplay. This First-Person Shooter makes its Android debut exclusively on Xperia™ PLAY.
  • FIFA 2010 from EA Mobile (pre-installed in some regions)
  • Sims 3 from EA Mobile (pre-installed in some regions)
  • Tetris from EA mobile (pre-installed in some regions)

Check out the press release below for the entire list of titles...
